Since 1994, Buckingham Asset Management, LLC has been providing fee-only investment management to individuals, businesses, trusts, partnerships, not-for-profit organizations and retirement plans. We do so by constructing customized portfolios tailored to each client’s unique ability, willingness and need to take risk. We were founded by four St. Louis area business leaders who recognized a need for a firm guided by fundamentally sound investing principles and a desire to act in the client’s best interest at all times. Those guiding principles are still evident in all we do. From building portfolios to providing risk management solutions to offering advanced planning opportunities, our team of 90 professionals work with our clients to place them in the best position to achieve their goals.
In 2010, Wealth Management Consultants (WMC) joined Buckingham Asset Management, LLC. WMC is based in Santa Rosa, Calif. WMC and Buckingham have enjoyed a wonderful relationship and synergy for more than a decade. WMC Founder and Principal Irv Rothenberg has been a colleague and longtime friend of Buckingham's co-founders. We ultimately decided the time was right for our organizations to combine forces.
In 2011, we merged with RNM Financial Management, based in Soldotna, Alaska. We first got to know RNM, which was founded in 1996 by Bob Mikunda, through our sister firm BAM Advisor Services, which had been providing back-office services to RNM since 1999. Our like-minded approach to providing wealth management made the decision to merge a simple one.
Later in 2011, St. Louis-based KB Investment Advisors became the third Registered Investment Advisor firm to come under the Buckingham umbrella. Like RNM, we got to know KBIA through BAM Advisor Services, and its philosophy dovetailed perfectly with ours, making this an outstanding partnership.
2012 continued our trend of bringing strong firms into Buckingham. In February, we added Prasada Capital Management, based in Park City, Utah. Prasada founder Carl Richards became Buckingham’s director of investor education, strengthening our already deep bench of nationally recognized educators. In addition to his responsibilities with Buckingham, Carl writes for the New York Times’ Bucks blog and for Morningstar Advisor. He published his first book, The Behavior Gap, in early 2012.
Our fifth merger was our largest one yet. Founders Financial Network, based in Cupertino, Calif., joined Buckingham later in 2012. This marked the first time two Focus Financial Partners firms have joined forces. Adding Founders enhanced our ability to serve the Silicon Valley market.
