Description

Julie Stackhouse, senior vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, will discuss what happened before, during and after the financial crisis that occurred in September 2008, including the role played by some of the lending practices widely in place at that time. Julie will also describe actions taken by the Federal Reserve in fall 2008 and thereafter.
 
During the presentation, she will address the following questions:
  • How did the Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. respond to the financial crisis?
  • How have lending standards changed since 2008?
  • Why have some banks failed, and what happens when a bank fails?
  • What regulatory reforms have been considered?
